Four decades of experience have shown us that the most effective way of teaching, inspiring, and motivating writing students is to surround them with other writers.
At the Frederick Douglass Creative Arts Center, students share their work with
their
peers and their instructor and have it critiqued in a positive, friendly
environment. In
turn, they read, listen and respond to others' work. Such interchange and
interaction
among students, especially when moderated and directed by a workshop instructor
who is
both a professional in his field and an experienced teacher, helps each student
to grow as
a writer and achieve at a high level. Workshop cycles begin October, January, April and July. Classes at the FDCAC in Manhattan, 270 West 96th Street
